How to Change the Filters on Your Bottleless Cooler

How to Change the Filters on Your Bottleless Cooler

At Brio, we want to ensure that your water is clean and tastes great, so we created powerful filters that remove the majority of harmful contaminants. Because they work overtime to clean your water, we ask that our customers replace their filters every six to eight months, depending on usage. With that in mind, Brio offers user-friendly filter replacement systems with quick-connecting, twist-on cartridges that allow for quick removal and installation of your cooler’s water filters.

READ: How Often Should You Change Your Water Dispenser Filters?

Changing the filters on your bottleless cooler is easier than you may think. After you order and receive the appropriate filter set for your model, it should take less than ten minutes to replace the old set with the new one. All you need to do is follow the five steps below!

Step 1: Shut off your home's water supply

Before removing any components from the bottleless water cooler, locate your home's water supply, usually a knob you can twist under your sink, and turn it off. Turning off the water source ensures a seamless and mess-free filter replacement process.

Step 2: Remove the filters from your bottleless cooler

Gently but firmly turn the used filters counter-clockwise to remove the cartridges from the water dispenser. Perform this action for every filter cartridge on your Brio Water Dispenser.

Step 3: Dispose of your old filters

Step 4: Flush your filters

You need to run water through your filters to remove any surplus carbon particles. If you don't, you may see small black particles in your cold water tank or water. They aren't harmful, but it's easy to prevent them. If you have a Reverse Osmosis (RO) filtered cooler, you do not need to flush your filters.

There are two popular ways to flush your filters. You can connect your filters to the filter housing that came with your machine, flush them, then connect them to the cooler. You can connect them to the water cooler, disconnect the water line from the filters to the cooler and allow the water line to drain into a sink.

Step 5: Install your new filters

To install your replacement filters, starting with Stage 1 and working towards Stage 4 in order, twist the cartridge clockwise until it's secure.

Step 6: Reconnect the water supply line

When all the replacement filters have been securely installed, turn on the water line and allow for clean and refreshing water to refill the stainless steel reservoirs.

That's it!

I flushed and replaced my filters. Why does the 2 green lights continue to flash?

Hi Beth, you are correct, you do NOT need to flush your RO filters. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

We can’t seem to flush the RO MEMBRANE filter because the connection doesn’t fit the filter housing. Nowhere does it say this filter doesn’t need to be flushed, everywhere it says flush all filters. What the heck!?!
